What is new in version 2.6?
DATAREV.EXE is written in the latest version of our development software, and DataRevelation 2.6 automatically installs by just running it when prompted at the start of the downloading process. Datarev.exe is for any version of Windows® (Windows 98 or newer).
DataRevelation 2.6 can handle extremely large data sets. One speed bump is that Excel, used during importing, can only hold 65,000 rows. DataRevelation itself can now handle much larger data sets. Email us for information on how to import data sets greater than 65,000 records.
Datarev.exe is digitally signed which validates its authenticity. This process works through an authorized certification authority that says the file has not been tampered with and originates from a trusted company (DataRevelation, Inc.). Certifying datarev.exe also softens the language of Window's warning screen when downloading an executable file.
DATAREV.ZIP (version 2.5) is a zip file that was created in an older version of our development software. While it is functionally similar to datarev.exe, it goes through a different installation process. If any problems are encountered when installing datarev.exe, then try datarev.zip. Personal computers can be finicky and complicated with software from hundreds of companies sharing the same space with a complex operating system.
To install DataRelation 2.5, download datarev.zip to a known location on your hard drive, and then un-zip it and follow the on-screen instructions. Windows XP is able to un-zip datarev.zip by just finding the file using Windows Explorer and double clicking on it. DataRevelation 2.5 is for any version of Windows (Windows 95 or newer).
